NEW POST!!!

NO NEW NEWS.

But I just thought I'd post.

/rant

I see all these skateboarders nowadays and I get mixed feelings. I mean, back when I first started taking skateboarding seriously, I would crave skater companions. I would feast at every video, magazine, or mention of skateboarding. I thought the witty anit-establishment/authority commentary was awesome and filled common sense.

Maybe I'm just getting old or maybe I'm finally seeing the world for what it is really is. It's complex. There are no simple answers. Skateboarding will not save the world. It's awesome and fun and a big part of many peoples lives. But it's not gospel. Getting rid of all the police and ridding the world of jocks isn't going to make life better.

Anarchy is the dumbest idea ever. Society craves organization. Chaos never lasts. Its built into our system. It's instict. We are drawn to form family units, then communities, then governments. Why? Because it makes sense. The problems stem from selfishness and greed.

The more I read skate mags the more I treat them like most boys treat nudie mags... just for the pictures. Because honestly that's the only thing that interests me anymore. Growing up, I was so sure that what I read was right that I made the dumbest claims. I guess it's every kids dream to be a rebel; it's so glamorized; but now I look back and see just how much of an idiot I was.

The one thing skate mags should preach when it comes to anything other than the best deck, bearing, or trucks should be "DO YOUR RESEARCH". Don't accept what people say just because it sounds nice or makes sense. In the end, you only have you to blame when you blindedly follow another.

All of the LDS doctrine to come down since the restoration hinges on that one principle: FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF.

You can ride on the coatails of your friends, family, and parents for only so long. In the end, you need to find out for yourself, before it's too late.

Skateboarding should just concentrate on skateboarding. Not indoctrinating the youth of america with political ideas, right or wrong.

Dude, I totally agree, couldn't have put it better myself. The articles in most skate mags are absolutely worthless for the most part, but I will say that the pictures(tricks) these days absolutely make up for it and then some.

I was kinda worried about reading that a day after I posted and thinking it would not make any sense... but it still does and I stand by it. I want skateboarding and skate trip journals. The so called skate trip articles are usually un-poetic crap. Get the guys who wrote back in the mid-late-nineties. Those we awesome.
